Field Guides
Practical, opinionated guides built from real trips, what to pack, what to skip, and how to keep your body and your bag intact.
How these guides are built
Every field guide on this site comes out of an actual trip, not a search result. If a bag made it through six countries in a row, it earns a mention. If a jacket failed in Iceland or a converter fried a laptop in Bali, that ends up here too. The goal is a small shelf of honest, dated write-ups you can trust more than the average affiliate roundup.
The guides fall into a few consistent buckets:
- Packing lists tuned to a specific climate or trip length, with the items that failed called out so you can skip them.
- Gear reviews written after long-term use, not after a two-week loan from a brand.
- Health and logistics notes, including vaccination timing, water safety, jet-lag routines, and dealing with pharmacies abroad.
- Money and paperwork guides that cover cards, cash, visas, and the small border details nobody warns you about.
Nothing here is sponsored. If a link ever becomes an affiliate link, it will be labeled inline. Older guides get updated in place when something changes, and the last-updated date lives on each post so you can tell what still applies.
